This website is a project of the Canada Haiti Action Network, a grassroots network of solidarity committees and activists in most provinces across Canada. We are committed to raise awareness of what is happening in Haiti and the effects of the Government of Canada’s support for the February 29, 2004 coup d’etat that overthrew Haiti’s democratically-elected government and president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide. We support the principles outlined at the “Kongres Bwa Kayiman” international conference of February, 2005 in Washington DC at which Haiti solidarity activists from numerous countries reiterated their support for Haitian democracy. (See final resolution from the conference at http://www.fondasyonmapou.org/memberspage.html)
We work in solidarity with long-established Haiti solidarity organizations in the United States such as the Haiti Action Committee (based in San Francisco), the Let Haiti Live coalition, and the Haitian Lawyers Leadership Network. This website is managed and edited by a team of editors from our affiliate groups.
